Stop screwing up America!

Wake up America!

Wake up, America.  Is an editorial written by Cal Thomas in the Indianapolis Star.  I was unable to find the article online, but I will continue to look.  For now I have re-typed the whole thing with my comments. (in blue)  If anyone can link this article, please, please, please let me know.  I want to give this man all the credit in the world for his great editorial. CLICK HERE.  This is a slightly different version than what was in the Star, but all the same none the less.

I have been thinking back over this endless campaign, wondering why I didn’t see the signs of socialism in Barack Obama’s views the first time I saw him on Oprah.  The October surprise may turn out to be a 7 yo interview with Barack Obama in which he strongly suggests that the US Constitution is an impediment to his desire to redistribute the nations wealth.  How does Obama credibly take the oath of office to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” when he thinks it impedes his socialist agenda?

Is socialism too strong a word?  Consider one of its definitions from dictionary.com and tell me it is something other than Obama’s economic philosophy: “A theory or system of of social reform which contemplates a complete reconstruction of society, with a more just and equitable distribution of property and labor.”

A complete restructuring of society is what Obama advocated in a 2001 interview on a Chicago Public radio sation.  According to Politico.com, Obama, “reflection on the Warren court’s successes and failures in helping to usher in civil rights said, “I think where it succeeded was to vest formal rights in previously dispossessed people.” He has it backward.  The Creator already endowed African-American people with these rights, which is precisely the argument powerfully made by Martin Luther King Jr.  Any rights that are “vested” in people by other people may be removed by the same or future people.  Endowed rights are “unalienable” and what America did was to finally recognize those rights.  The distinction is crucial because it also relates to abortion and many other social issues.  If a court can take away the right to life, then NO endowed right is safe. WATCH THE VIDEO!!!!! Lets pause for a second.  The court has taken away the right to life.  A child, given life by God, the Creator, does not have a right to that life.  What is next? I have to ask Barack Obama, how would you feel if the courts took away your right to be black?  God made you black, the Creator created you black, You are black.  What if the court decided, that you were no longer allowed to be black?  Would you be ok with that?

Obama continues with a comment that the “Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of the redistribution of wealth and sort of basic issues of political and economic justice in this society, and to that extent as radical as people try to characterize the Warren court, it wasn’t that radical.”  Does he mean that for real “justice” to have been achieved, the Warren Court should have taken from the rich and given to the black poor?  Obama never said what would happen once the redistributed money ran out. Perhaps this was not to be a one time event, but a lifetime of “reparations” for slavery, as some other left-wing black leaders have proposed. READ ABOUT THE WARREN COURT

Obama thought the Warren court should have “broken free” from the constraints placed on the Constitution and the courts by the Founding Fathers.  This is remarkable hubris. Break free of the constitution?  Are you kidding me?  The Constitution is the single, most important document framing the government of the United States.  It is what makes us a Democratic Republic, not  Democracy, like Brittan.  It is what saves us from Dictatorship, and the rise of Factions.  It is what protects our God given rights as Mothers, Fathers, Children, Adults, Blue Collar, White Collar, Religious and Agnostic alike.  The Constitution IS, i repeat IS the United States of America!  With out it we are just another country.  One in the same with our allies and enimies alike.  Perhaps with out the Constitution we would be a country Michelle Obama could be Proud Of.  Is that what you want?  What country are you proud of?

This is radical in the extreme and Obama, along with his many acolytes who are itching to get their hands on unchecked political power, are a danger to this nations survival.

John McCain stands in the way of a complete liberal coup that would transform America in ways the founders and most Americans would oppose.  McCain may be dull at times; he may have run an imperfect campaign; he should have spent more time exposing Obama as a radical socialist instead of worrying what the media would say if he did, but John McCain is a patriot who has proved his love, service and dedication to this country in ways that Obama cannot begin to achieve or appreciate.

Electing Obama president would be a roll of loaded dice.  We will live (and posibly die) to regret it.  Republicans have made many mistakes and deserve the punishment they are now getting, but the one charge that cannot be laid at their doorstep is that they wanted to rewrite the Constitution and weaken the country.

Wake up, America, and stop glirting with this guy because you are flirting with potential disaster.

Joe the Plumber and I agree.

Thanks for finding this video John!

I get not everyone is responsible with money… I get it. But I could be making a *profit/ increasing my retirement fund* (there I go talking like a capitalist again) if I were able to invest/save the money I pay into social security.

If there were no social security, if there were no bail out plans, if there were no welfare….. maybe people would be better with money.

People would learn their lesson if the Government weren’t there to put a comfy pillow under your ass everytime you fell.

I say let’s start letting some butts hit the sidewalk, and hit it hard!

www.senate.gov

The website for the United States Senate is valuable tool for both voting and non-voting citizens.  The website allows the Senate the ability to supply large amounts of information that the public can easily access in a concise format.  Weather you are planing a vacation to D.C. to visit the Capitol Building, or you wish to examine the voting record of your Senators, you can find a wide selection of information.  The site, www.senate.gov, has a stately, straight forward, and informative appearance.  A look that is supported by the Content and Responsibility section of the site.  “The information on this Web site is complied under the authority and direction of the Secretary of the Senate, Washington, DC 20510.”  This is an important factor that provides the site with credibility.  As you examine the content of the site, the home page holds information about Senate history, and upcoming events. The site is divided into 6 main areas of interest: Senators, Committees, Legislation and Records, Art and History, Visitors, and Reference.

The Senators and Committees tabs provide you with information about who the Senate is comprised of, and how it conducts business.  This is any easy place to find information regarding individuals in the Senate.  The Senators tab takes you to a listing of all 100 currently serving senators.  It tells you the party each one belongs to, the state they represent, the address of their office, their website, and when their class.  Class is a requirement of Article 1, Section 3 of the Constitution that provides Senators be divided into three classes for the purpose of elections.  Since Senators are elected to six year terms, classes ensure new Senators are elected ever two years.  The Committees tab provides you with similar information about the Committees.  Specifically, a link to the committee site and a brief explanation of the Committee System.

The Legislation and Records tab is probably one of the most important tools provided to citizens by www.senate.gov.  Especially with a closely contested election about to take place in our country, you hear a lot of talk about voting records.  Information that is skewed by candidates to serve their purpose, the media to sell more papers, or other citizens who blindly forward chain emails.  Through these three forms of bias information it can be hard to decipher the truth, and understand how, and why, a candidate voted.  Fortunately, the Senate provides on their website a non-filtered, easy to decipher list of votes, bills and resolutions, treaties, and other maters on which Senators are involved.  Since both major party candidates in 2008 are Senators, one can easily search for the voting records of Senator McCain, Senator Obama, or other Senators they may be interested in.

If one is a registered voter in the state of Indiana, they may wish to pay close attention to how their Senators represent them.  If your Senators are voting “Yea” to bills their constituents support and “Nay” to resolutions their constitutes oppose, then they are likely to retain their office.  A bill that has gained a lot of attention in the media lately is H. R. 1424, the so called “Bail out Bill”.  If you click on the Legislation and Records tab on the Senate homepage, and then click votes on the left navigation bar you are taken to a recent votes page.  By using the information provided for H. R. 1424 it can be determined that Senator Even Bayh (D) IN, and Senator Richard Lugar (R) IN, both voted “Yea” on H. R. 1424.  They did so on October 1, 2008 as members of the 110th Congress.  This information would be useful to an Indiana Voter who had strong convictions about H. R. 1424 and is a retrospective voter.  It is important to note that the Legislation and Records Tab contains a large amount of information and may take a great deal of patience to sort through, as it is not searchable with the ease of Wikipedia or Google.

The Visitors tab and the Reference tab are the most generically useful of the six tabs.  They provide quick and easy information about, one can assume, the most sought after information, FAQ’s if you will.  They tell you where the Senate is located, how you can visit it, a basic history, a brief overview of structure, about the Capitol Building, and interesting facts and myths. This is the section where you find the Constitution of the United States.  Arguably the most important document in American History.  A document that touches each and every one of us every day.  You find it under the Reference tab in a quick, easy to use, online format.

The most unexpected of the tabs is the Art and History tab.  It contains images and history about well known paintings such as Scene at the Signing the Constitution of the United States by Howard Chandler Christy.  It is a sensory experience of government that can not be offered in the other sections of the site.  It brings a human touch, and a personal experience and relationship to www.senate.gov that lacks in the dry wording of H. R. 1424 and the long lists of “Yeas” and “Nays”.

The website for the United States Senate is a valuable tool to Americans.  A tool that, unfortunately, is more than likely not used to its full potential.  Never the less the site offers a transparency to the government.  A checks and balances system that allows citizens to stay informed, and like wise, can help hold senators accountable.

Bad Website::

Such a bad site… The moving rectangles up top are too much and the graphics on the page suck.  Such a shame, because some of their architecture is really innovative.  The site doesn’t do it justice.
